WORLD JEWISH SOLIDARITY and TEFILLAH DAY

TO BE ANNOUNCED : March 21 2024 – Adar2 11 5784 – י”א אדר ב תשפ”ד

A UNIVERSAL CALL TO ALL WORLD JEWRY

During these very difficult and troubling times, which are seriously affecting the whole Jewish world and particularly our brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisrael, an International Steering Committee is working to arrange a World Jewish Solidarity Day. Communities throughout the world will be linked via video conferencing on that day to create a massive show of global unity among Am Yisrael and to use the opportunity to seek Rachamim for the entire Jewish people from our Heavenly Father.

Many believe passionately that this is vital necessity at this time, and that once Jewish people around the globe learn of these plans, they will also recognise the unique opportunity of a truly global event, one which includes the prominent participation of the younger generation.

The format of the day is based on a very successful smaller event held in 2001 which connected thousands of Jews in the Asian – Pacific region with those in Israel, South Africa and England. By using live video conference links, tehillim were said in unison on three continents, and inspiring speeches by world leaders were telecast simultaneously to the many assemblies.

The event is to be held simultaneously around the world. This will be an inspiring occasion of unprecedented historic proportions, which will require much co-ordination and great publicity to awaken people’s interest in participating.

The World Jewish Solidarity Day requires the support and participation of all sections of World Jewry. A number of major international Jewish organisations have already pledged their support. However it is emphasised that the event itself is non-political so that all participants will feel comfortable with all aspects.

Considering the importance of our solidarity in such crucial times for our People, we are seeking the support of every Jewish Community, school and organisation throughout the world. In this way it can truly be a day of international unity and solidarity. When each Community encourages all their members to attend the appointed venue in their city, to come together as Am Yisrael, this will be a display of unity, unparalleled in Jewish history.

The International Steering Committee, which has taken upon itself to arrange this event, is essentially grassroots ,comprised of a number of   diverse individuals, most of whom are orthodox, who have joined together to promote the World Jewish Solidarity Day as an apolitical, but universal demonstration of every Jew’s responsibility for each other.
